It’s not a play. It’s a job!

We’ve started practice with one scene from 8-Ball, and Ben, Brandon, and Alex almost are off script. We have been graciously allowed to use the Isle’s Reception Hall every Wed. and Thurs. evenings. When I explained that my actors would get paid at the end of the play run, they started asking if we could do more than one show! We are planning 8-Ball for Friday Dec. 17th at the Joyo, but they would like to present it more than one night.

I met with Shari Reason tonight, a cool lady from Wahoo, who is taking her role as Bloody Mary serious. I also dropped off a script today with Alec Talbott, who will play Reason Nelson. He sings, he dances, and he can act!

I am relieved because all five of my cast members for Bloody Mary have had acting experience. Eli and Ethan Diamant have both performed for the Haymarket Theater, and Denny Ladue and Shari Reason have performed for numerous productions around Lincoln. Denny the ham that he is, has been on several TV commercials, and this summer he was in an HP Lovecraft film produced by my old friend, Rich Stripling.

Rich is going to film both plays for us, so if you can’t make it out on a cold winter night come this December, we’ll make the film version available on Youtube and on Facebook.

I am still looking for a band to open and close both shows. So if you know of any who need some promotion, let me know.

Storm Haven: imagine a light house sending out it's beacon on a stormy sea. On the sea is a boat, badly battered by the wind and the waves, its sail torn and tattered. Inside the boat is a world weary, forlorn kid, seeking a safe haven. Now apply this to a kid who picks up one of my books, and as he sits reading in his cell at some detention center or in his room at treatment, his imagination is suspended for that brief time as he finds a haven from the storm.
