Irony.

We accepted an invite from Konnie of Cordova and ended up in Friend for their Wednesday Wing Night. In exchange for Stag Heart Book Two, Konnie paid for my dinner. While I ate Teriyaki Wings, Kody ate the Hot Wings. He ended up downing 3 Mountain Dews! On the ride back home, the caffeine kicked in outside of Milford. Kody put on quite a hilarious comedy routine.  He did not stop until we made the turn into Havelock. By then, my jaws were sore from laughing so hard.

When we got home, I received an email from Michelle who is traveling here to Havelock on Sunday to purchase books from me. As I informed her of the cost, I realized it was exactly my lawyer’s motel expense while he fights my copyright lawsuit Monday in Appeals Court in St. Louis!

I hope Brett is able to convince the 3 judges there that the “other side”  willfully violated my copyright. My webmaster would reprimand me if he knew I was even mentioning my suit on the site, but who would have thought something I created would end up in Federal Court twice in one lifetime?

The real irony is, I didn’t go to college to learn how to write. However, in working the streets with hard-core kids, I picked up enough lessons to write about. I now have 12 books to my credit, a handful of songs, and an anti-drug program that despite the Federal Injunction I won in 1998, has been “borrowed” for the past several years.

If we don’t win, I will at least know that something I wrote was worth going to court over twice, and at least it is still being used to educate and entertain kids!
